I am a newly cigar smoker and can’t decide whether it is better get cigars online or at Cigar Stores locally. Buying cigars online seems to be ok, you can find your favorites pretty much anywhere online. But, you have to be careful of the company you are buying from. Are they safe, do they sell quality cigars, how long is it going to take to get my cigars? There are many other questions that I ask myself when I think about buying online. I also am not quite sure if you can get a better deal online or at the local shop. The good thing about buying locally is that you have an experience sales man, often the owner, to inquire about specific cigars. Cigars tend to be cheaper online, but after the shipping costs, they are about the same as if you picked them up. Some towns that are way out there may not have a local tobacconist that is reasonably close, so I can see ordering online. Luckily for me, there is one about 4 miles from my house. It also has a lounge, so if I want to relax with a nice cigar, I can sit and watch a big screen tv and enjoy my stogie in peace. I have also heard of some places that are smaller and are tacked onto the back of gas stations. My friend took me to one near us, and surprising it had quite a large humidor. I was thinking that I wasn’t going to buy anything before I got there. I have bought some machine mades from a gas station before, and they were really stale. But this place actually had a large seletion of cigars inside the humidor. They didn’t have my favorite brand, but it was worth checking out. I really like the cigar stores that are near me and even though the selection is fewer than ordering online, I like the experience you get from going into a place and being able to socialize with other smokers. And the staff usually has plenty of knowledge about cigars that I am trying for the first time. And what happens when I run out and want to smoke a cigar. If I have to order online, then I have to wait for them to arrive. With Cigar Stores so close to me, they really are better in a pinch and I plan on sticking to my favorite place, which has great atmosphere and is quite relaxing.

Finding a Cigar Store Near You
Friday, April 30th, 2010Try White Owl Smokes
Tuesday, April 6th, 2010White Owl Cigars have been around for many many years and I have smoked them for as long as i can remember. I discovered an article from July 1932 about the General Cigar company, which manufacturer’s White Owls. At the time, these machine made cigars were being sold at seven cents. And that price was a bit to high for cigar smokers of that day. The medium price of a machine made was about five cents. Many people went to General to get them to reduce their price down to 5 cents. Not only did they want the price decreased, but they didn’t need the stogie to be changed in any way. They wanted the same size and quality filler at a lower cost. White Owl cigars are made with the costliest filler that the US grows and is a quality cigar that some aficionado’s didn’t mind paying one or two extra cents. Many executives of the company were not willing to switch the price, they’d be making the lowest profit from the change and other firms using scraps and damaged ends of tobacco would still be making a serious profit margin, for less superior cigars. In the end, the choice was made to low the prices, but keeping the practice of great long filler and over sized cigars. Once the reduction was put into effect, the company broke records for fast increase in consumption. They managed to do this with arranged production and vast output. I just wish they continue to only cost 5 cents per cigar, that would save me a lot of money, I believe that I would be fine with paying the seven cents too.
